You can't medicate or supplement your way out of a bad diet

I truly believe we are all doing the best we can with what we've got. The tricky thing is over the years we've been able to get more and more of everything especially things we don't need. I know this might be a bit controversial but I can not think of any nutritional value to alcohol or sugar and yet many people are addicted to one or both. When during the pandemic, alcohol stores were considered an essential service I was completely gob smacked. Alcohol and sugar contribute to many of our modern day illnesses and many of these result in inflammation which then turns into other diseases and conditions.
Eventually we go to see our health professional or on the rare occasion we get rushed to the hospital and so begins our reactive health care system journey. Yes the plan is we go there to get well again, but the expectation is usually to want something for the ailment. We are advised that something needs to be removed or we are now on medication for the foreseeable future. Now do not interpret this to mean that I don't believe in our system because I do. I studied an integrative medicine degree - I am just trying to highlight that what brought us to our medical professional may be calmed, sorted, fixed by some medication or a supplement or vitamin, but this should not be the end of it. When you find yourself in this situation it's important to take stock of what happened and maybe look at making some changes in your diet and/or lifestyle. If it really isn't obvious what you might need to look at then reach out to someone (like a naturopath) who can assess you holistically and help you with your journey to wellness. Try not to self prescribe from sources like the TV or Doctor Google. Even as a naturopath, when I need help with an ailment I will go to another naturopath because sometimes you can't see your own blindspots.
And remember you cannot medicate or supplement your way out of a bad diet or lifestyle, so try and catch your body when you feel small issues and deal with them early not when your body starts screaming at you.
Your health is your wealth!!!!!
